Aged Treasure

-

The Macallan releases the oldest whisky ever from the distillery: An 81-Year single malt whisky named The Reach. Crafted from a single, sherry seasoned oak cask during the Second World War, The Reach is said to have laid to rest in 1940 before The Macallan was compelled to close its doors. Now released, the whisky is encased in an exquisite decanter created from mouth-blown glass, cradled on a bronze sculpture of three hands. Only 288 decanters are available worldwide.

On taste, Kirsteen Campbell, Master Whisky Maker, says, “The deep auburn hue offers notes of dark chocolate, sweet cinnamon, and aromatic peat, leading on to treacle toffee, crystalized ginger, and charred pineapple, before giving way to an intensely rich, sweet, and smoky finish.” themacallan.com
