5 MINUTES WITH CHARINTIP TIYAPHORN, OWNER REPRESENTATIVE OF PIMALAI RESORT & SPA

-

What made you decide to take over the leadership role at Pimalai Resort & Spa?

Pimalai started when my father discovered the unspoiled land and wanted to build his retirement home. When the opportunity came to build a resort, I felt that it’s my responsibility to keep the land and natural resources intact. While always improving on our products and services, we also continue to provide career growth for our team members. Many of them have been with us for more than 10 years and are like family too.

What distinguishes Pimalai Resort & Spa’s take on luxury hospitality?

Peace, nature, and privacy. Our property covers 900 meters of beachfront and it feels like a private beach. We only have 121 units for accommodation, which are spread out over 100 acres of land. There are more than 30 variety of plants grown in our property and lots of wildlife. Pimalai is still a natural habitat for wildlife and it proves that luxury can come hand in hand with nature.

Last but not least, our people. A lot of them have been with us for 10-20 years. They are passionate and they really care about the happiness and comfort of our guests.

What’s your vision for Pimalai Resort & Spa and Koh Lanta in the next few years?

Pimalai has been a member of Green Globe for five years and we were included in the Considerate Collection by Small Luxury Hotels of the World in 2021. We care for the sustainability of our industry, as well as the social aspects and well-being of children and people on the island. There has been an increased awareness towards sustainability on the island so we hope that we can work together with the locals and the authorities to further reduce waste, use renewable energy, reduce carbon dioxide emission, and improve quality of life so that Koh Lanta will become a sustainable island.
