MOUNT MCKINLEY AND WONDER LAKE, ALASKA, 1947 , ANSEL ADAMS
July 9-19
Featuring at the MOMA: Tracing Photography’s History online sale by Christie’s is this gelatin silver print, which captures the crisp, calm Wonder Lake in Alaska, overlooking the famed Denali, formerly Mount Mckinley. It was shot in summer, with a clear view of the highest peak in North America, which is often characterised by cloudy days. The photograph, number 71 out of the 75-piece Portfolio One: Twelve Photographic Prints by Ansel Adams, 1938–1948, is expected to garner US$6,000.
