THE JOHN WALKER

TRIPLE MATURED FOR UNRIVALLED FLAVOUR

-

As Jim Beveridge, John Walker & Sons Master Blender, pores over the carefully selected whiskies on his blending table he does so with the sense that the founding fathers of this esteemed whisky-making house are looking over his shoulder. Jim’s knowledge and experience are, after all, built on the legacy and foundations laid by his predecessors – their experiments are his discoveries, their notes are his reference point and their commitment to innovation is his inspiration.

Jim is in a privileged position, one of only six master blenders in an unbroken line stretching back almost two hundred years to the time of our founder, John Walker, and the modernday guardian of a remarkable heritage. Today, almost two centuries since John Walker established his company and began new journeys in flavour, John Walker & Sons is one of the most respected whisky-makers in the world, with unparalelled reserves of maturing Scotch whisky in its care.

It is therefore a perfect tribute that one of the most precious whiskies to emerge from John Walker & Sons has been created in honour of the man who started it all: John Walker himself. The John Walker was born as a celebration of the life and legacy of the man who gave the world’s best-known Scotch its name and is an elegant blend of rare whiskies from just nine distilleries that existed during his lifetime (1805-1857), triple matured with a final marrying in a bespoke cask made of 100-year-old oak and presented in a handmade, Baccarat crystal decanter. To craft this exceptional blend a small team of blenders, under the tutelage and guidance of Jim Beveridge, hand-select some of the rarest whiskies imaginable, including two from distilleries that are now silent – Glen Albyn and Cambus. Following a long first maturation of malt and grain whiskies in single casks, the

“The whiskies we are blending with today are a window into our past. The whiskies we are making now will deliver the flavours we imagine for years to come.” Jim Beveridge John Walker & Sons Master Blender

THE JOHN WALKER IS A VELVETY SMOOTH, TRIPLE MATURED SCOTCH, WITH DELICATE NOTES OF FRUIT, HONEY AND CITRUS; INSPIRED BY THE LIFE AND LEGACY OF OUR FOUNDER, JOHN WALKER. whiskies in this Scotch are then matured for a second time with their characters beautifully combined as individual malt and grain vattings; finally these superblycrafted whiskies are married in a single cask of just 330 bottles, ensuring an exceptionally balanced smoothness and beautifully integrated layers of flavour. The result of this labour of love is an elegant, velvety-smooth whisky. The amber gold colour invites you in. On the nose you pick up a delicate honey sweetness, fresh citrus notes and hints of fruits from the rare Highland malt, Glen Albyn. As you take a sip, whisky from the silent Cambus distillery, along with other special grain whiskies create an initial burst of vanilla oak sweetness, followed by the zest of lighter Speyside malts and the release of tangerine, apricot, cereal notes and rich fruits - finally finishing with a subtle Island smoke. The rarity and craft of this whisky is reflected in the handmade crystal decanter which houses it, made by Baccarat at its legendary crystalworks in France. An angled cut across the front is a discreet reference to the iconic slanted label on the signature Johnnie Walker square bottle. Each one is engraved with a unique batch and bottle number – the perfect addition to any whisky collection. The John Walker is part of The John Walker & Sons Collection – an expression of our commitment to supreme quality and craft. The Collection is inspired by who and what has come before, these whiskies are the result of the dedication to giving Scotch lovers an experience like no other.
