PORSCHE 911 CARRERA

Some 56 years – and more than a million examples built – after the 911 first saw the light of day, 2019 marks the appearance of the latest generation of the world’s greatest sports car. The engine is still in the wrong place and it still looks – barring the more aggressive snout – pretty much like it always does, but this new 992 model is more powerful (up to 380bhp on the entrylevel Carrera 2), faster, technologically smarter and handles better – and yet is reassuringly not so very different from the classic 911 we’ve been in love with for decades. Hybrids are coming, but for now at least, we can revel in the rasp of its six-pot boxer, wholly unfiltered.
