HAPPY BIRTHDAY, SINGAPORE!
So our nation’s 55th birthday celebrations will be a more muted one – with our traditional gigantic downtown bash surely to be sorely missed. More than ever, this is the time to keep our flag flying high. Despite the economic gloom and regardless of our differences, Singaporeans have all come together in the recent General Elections in a quest to chart a brighter, stronger future. Here at Prestige, we have been so heartened by the tremendous tenacity and spirit of our fellow citizens!
Although we cannot celebrate National Day with you, we bring to you the pride of Singapore. This issue, we are thrilled to present our annual 40 Under 40: Class of 2020, showcasing possibly the most impressive, talented, diverse and well-intended group of young achievers in the list’s 10-year history. While there are 28 ladies and 12 gentlemen from various walks of life, I am pleased to say that among them are our cover personality and next-gen lifestyle visionary Joan Chang, two female scientists (one of them deeply involved in Covid-19 vaccine research) and a couple of marine conservation warriors. The majority of them have also gone beyond pursuing personal and career achievements to answer the call of community and society.
We also extend our applause to Singapore’s national fashion treasure, Paris-based designer Andrew Gn, who is looking forward to his 25th anniversary in the industry next year. As a warm gesture towards Prestige, which celebrates our 20th birthday this year, Andrew has collaborated with us to create a one-of-a-kind, couture-quality face mask to be auctioned off for charity. We thank Andrew for his generosity and kindness to craft this exclusive piece even when Covid-19 has affected his Parisian atelier’s production schedules.
