Create inviting open-air spaces with Minotti’s new Outdoor Collection

Friluftsliv (pronounced free-loofts-liv) directly translates to “open air life” in Norwegian and describes the desire to spend time outdoors and be close to nature. Beyond its definition, the word embodies a philosophy and way of life deeply rooted in Scandinavian culture. Similar to the popular concept of hygge, which encompasses the feeling of cosiness, comfort and contentment, friluftsliv uplifts spirits and is beneficial for one’s well-being. It is a broad expression that can mean anything from a jog around a park and a picnic in your backyard to going on a leisurely hike and scaling mountains.

In today’s circumstances, incorporating friluftsliv into our lives is especially helpful for our physical and mental health. And with travel put on hold, it is all the more important to foster a connection with nature in everyday life – starting at home.

A simple way to embrace outdoor living is to design outside spaces as seamless extensions of the inside. This harmonious indoor-outdoor relationship creates a sense of spaciousness and transforms the home into an open-air paradise. Minotti took this same approach when putting together its new 2020 Outdoor Collection, which comprises furnishings for open-air spaces like gardens, patios and terraces.

The Sunray seating system imitates a living room’s intimate and comforting atmosphere, with its enveloping design and use of different shapes and materials. Its raised base made in natural teak wood defines the seat with a strong horizontal line and gives it lightness, while the curved backrest with interwoven cords creates a fresh juxtaposition. The Sunray system is made up of pieces that can be used alone or together like an armchair, sofa, end element with or without extending top, chaise longue, love seat and daybed with reclining backrest. It also has a wide range of upholstery to suit any space.

Give your outdoor sanctuary a clean and minimal look with the Daiki seats – a tribute to Japanese design culture, which traditionally has few barriers between indoor and outdoor spaces, such as thin paper sliding doors that are often left open. The smooth, curved shell of the chair is crafted from teak using a sophisticated technique and comprises two elements joined at a 45-degree angle, with a sloping backrest for maximum comfort. Stitched cushions fit in snugly and are set on a stainless steel frame with bronze-coloured varnished polished legs.

Complement your seating with the statement-making Block Outdoor coffee tables. These have a sculptural look and frame inspired by Brutalist furniture and are made from solid wood to withstand the elements. The natural teak base of the table comes in an “L” shape or upside-down “T” while its top comes in blue-grey Pietra del Cardoso stone or in a white glossy lacquer plastic finish. The Block Outdoor coffee tables are also available in two heights.
