TO MOTHERS AND MAGIC
This Mother’s Day must be really special to so many mums in our midst – I can imagine them breathing a sigh of relief after a really unusual and difficult year of families working and studying from home for the most part. This issue, we dedicate it to the women who are our ever-loving nurturers, educators and protectors; especially those who are juggling household and child-minding responsibilities with work.
On the cover is fashionista Shabnam Arashan, who isn’t just fierce and fearless in her style outlook, but also her parenting. Self-professed to have graduated from a tiger mum to a helicopter mum, the former lawyer is the perfect example of someone who has done it right, isn’t afraid to tell and is appreciative of her privilege. “There are working mothers who can’t afford to do this and I salute them. But because I am privileged enough to, I consider this a joy and not a sacrifice,” says Shabnam, with whom we wholeheartedly agree.
We also convinced two society tiger mums, Karen Soh and Maria Kong, to share the secrets of their parenting success, their most candid thoughts and, of course, their impressive “tough love” moments.
Just as these ladies make magic, so have our most beloved luxury houses and establishments, which have made this new Spring season so exciting and colourful once again. First, let me introduce our rebranded events arm, Prestige Passions, which is a social club of sorts to bring together like-minded individuals in experiencing, enjoying, learning and sharing about the finer things in life.
