OPULENT FANTASY
Hortus Deliciarum (Garden of Delights in Latin) is Gucci’s second high jewellery collection, comprising over 130 largely one-of-a-kind pieces. The kaleidoscopic range draws heavily from the extensive repertoire of Gucci iconography cherished by the maison’s creative director, Alessandro Michele. Motifs are divided into four chapters, each of which depicts the multifaceted beauty of nature. The first reimagines the great outdoors in romantic jewels. Hints of dreamy 19th-century styles combined with the sky’s bewitching hues at sunset inform the second chapter. Case in point: this Rivière white gold necklace immortalises the magic of nightfall with diamonds, topazes, rubellites, citrines, peridots, mandarin garnets, tourmalines and an opal, with a combined weight of over 195 carats. In the third chapter, the romanticism of a rose garden forms the foundation for a feminine narrative with Rococo bows and talismanic sautoirs symbolising renewal and love. The final chapter revisits the Greek god Dionysus, as well as the animal kingdom and ancient fauna.
