EDRIS BOEY, 36
Head of Environmental, Social and Governance (ESG) Research at Maitri Asset Management
For a better future, organisations need to prioritise sustainable development, and Edris is passionate about helping them do better and create impact. In her role as head of ESG Research at Maitri Asset Management, she works closely with the investment team to examine the ESG processes of potential investment prospects and better understand their future sustainability and growth potential.
This is done according to Maitri Asset Management’s very own proprietary Responsible Investment (RI) Approach, a framework that Edris is responsible for leading, developing and formalising. “It is fulfilling to have played a role in corporates taking corrective measures to reduce their emissions in line with the goals of the Paris Agreement and commit to mitigating climate change. The RI Approach has helped realise my lifelong aspiration to play an active role in promoting greater accountability by corporates of their resulting pollution and contributing to the clean-up through sustainable practices.”
Edris hopes the idea of sustainability in everyday life will become mainstream, rather than the exception. “Sustainability goes beyond just the environment; it is a mindset with a long-term outlook, where we constantly ask ourselves how we can enable humanity to remain resilient and thrive for centuries to come,” she says. “The core of humanity from what we eat (sourcing our food), to what we do (job creation) and how we do it (natural resources, work processes and transportation) must evolve around this concept.”
