OUT OF THIS WORLD
The Les Cabinotiers Tourbillon Armillary Perpetual Calendar – Planetaria watch demonstrates Vacheron Constantin’s technical mastery by integrating extreme astronomic and aesthetic complexity on a dial of three-dimensional globes. The one-of-a-kind timepiece boasts the new Calibre 1991, a 745-component grand complication movement that took four years to develop. Endowed with a 60-hour power reserve, it drives two rotating globes representing the Earth’s hemispheres, regulated by a double-axis armillary tourbillon. The centre of the timekeeping dial with hour markers is dedicated to the moon phases that require a one-day correction every 122 years. The entirely original perpetual calendar functions include the leap year that appears via a 5 o’clock aperture, along with circular day and month indications at 12 and 6 o’clock based on a jumping retrograde pallet-type display system. Representing the Northern and Southern hemispheres are two titanium globes that perform complete rotations in opposite directions. The commanding 46mm masterpiece is housed in a pink gold case and presented on a dark brown alligator leather strap.
