Launched last year, the LV Pont 9 introduces a new-generation extension that enhances the curves of the rectangular, structured predecessor in smooth, lightly padded calfskin. The refreshed rounded form is accentuated with supple grained calfskin leather and a broad bicolour textile strap, lending a casual, haute sportif air to the LV Pont 9 Soft. In addition to Louis Vuitton’s iconic Monogram Flowers embroidered on the strap, a discreet Monogram Blossom-shaped magnetic closure greets you when you lift the flap. Adding heritage chic is the LV Circle that graces the bag’s front and strap. Artistic director of women’s collections Nicolas Ghesquière updated a 1930s logo from the archives with this sleek rendition, but what conjures up Parisian dreams is the name of the bag, which is inspired by the monumental Pont Neuf that sits opposite the maison’s headquarters. Although the name means “new bridge”, it is the City of Love’s oldest, and most celebrated, stone bridge crossing the Seine that is distinguished by the first equestrian statue to be placed on a public thoroughfare and mascarons of different expressions.
