French luxury furniture and interiors brand Roche Bobois recently celebrated 50 years of the Mah Jong sofa, which was first created by design genius Hans Hopfer in 1971. Entirely handmade in Italy in the style of a luxurious mattress, the iconic sofa has been dressed in exclusive upholstery by various artists and designers over the years.

To celebrate the milestone anniversary, the latest Mah Jong cushions are upholstered in eclectic Kenzo Takada, Jean Paul Gaultier and Missoni Home fabrics that have been eco-designed in line with the Roche-bobois Eco8 standard.

In addition, the new Mah Jong is now set on a base with slightly recessed legs, creating the illusion of floating cushions. It still retains its functional modularity, with options of setting it up as an armchair, sofa, lounge chair, bed and more, including accessories.
