THE DRAGON’S GREEN GEM
While we wait for the last bastion of the zero-covid policy to drop entry restrictions, new hotels and resorts have been opening within China to a travel-hungry domestic market. One spectacular opening last year is LUX* Chongzuo by the Singapore-headquartered hospitality brand. Located deep in southern China’s mountainous Guanxi region at the border of China and Vietnam, this resort is surrounded by a karst landscape and nestled within a mild sub-tropical climate zone. Inspired by the traditional wooden stilted houses of the Zhuang minority, the architecture is understated to complement, not compete with the beauty of the surrounds. We can’t wait for the Middle Kingdom to reopen.
