OUR SEASONAL FASHION issues are a joy to put together. For our readers who always consider the half-full glass, fashion, or more correctly, style, is one of the inherent qualities that they exude in their daily lives. In the words of legendary costume designer Edith Head, who won a record eight Academy Awards for costume design: “You can have anything you want in life if you dress for it.”

That is why you should consider our April issue as your cheat sheet to propel you higher into the world of fashion. We offer the new rules where a ‘gentler masculinity’ has become a defining trait for dressing in the new decade. Find out how some of fashion’s biggest names have constructed looks that offer this element in their latest collections (p.44). If you are a fan of the bespoke extension of fashion, look no further than the Hermès Special Order division to help you truly customise your treasured possessions (p.32).

We also bring one of the most inspiring stories of silver linings in the world of fashion with an in-depth look at the empire built by the founder of Farfetch, José Neves (p.34). His meteoric rise in a year that has decimated so much of what we know lies in a tenacity and foresight that began in the late 1990s when the self-taught coder began learning how to make shoes in his early 20s.

For the automotive enthusiasts, we delve into the new Maserati MC20, a mid-engine superstar. The supercar succeeds the hugely popular MC12 – and required a fair amount of development including 2,000 hours in the wind tunnel – to emerge as a true contender to the editions from the Prancing Horse and Raging Bull marques.

Also, the Aston Martin DBX is taken for a spin around Singapore and emerges with top marks. Possibly one of the best cars Aston Martin has made in the modern era, the DBX is certainly the most complete product in the automaker’s range at the moment with its practicality, handsome looks and incredible performance (nippy for a 2.2-tonne car), all the while feeling completely natural and intuitive.

Enjoy the issue.
