Luxury Redefined
Montblanc elevates the Meisterstück Collection even more, introducing new details, shapes and a greater feel.
THERE ARE FEW brands more synonymous with the concepts of luxury and fine craftsmanship than Montblanc. With its distinctive emblem and unrivalled quality in terms of manufacturing expertise, the maison’s instruments of penmanship have almost defined (and then redefined) the art of writing, while its timepieces have become essential items in every watch aficionado’s collection.
So, when Montblanc decides to evolve its signature luxury leather collection, fans of the brand across the globe are bound to sit up and take note, waiting to see just what its designers will come up with next.
With Italian-born Marco Tomasetta now at the helm – previously of Prada and Louis Vuitton, and whose glorious mane makes him look every inch like the creative talent that he is – lovers of the brand only have to wait a little bit longer (with bated breath, no doubt) for his contemporary iterations. His background in imaginatively conceived and immaculately created leather goods is well documented, and earmarked him for the fabulous acquisition he has already proven to be for the maison.
The promise is to elevate the Meisterstück Collection even further by introducing new design details, round shapes and a luxurious leather that will present a softer, sensual and more luxuriant touch than before. The finish will be even more distinctive, with a deeper tone of black and a sumptuous, almost burnished aesthetic and feel.
The vision is to bring Montblanc’s new range of leather goods in a more adjacent alignment to the brand’s superb writing implements, whose precious resins and smooth, almost hedonistic touch have made them iconic and highly desirable in a competitive market since 1924. “The aim was to bring the design of the collection even closer to Montblanc’s iconic symbol of timeless luxury,” says Tomasetta, referring to the Meisterstück writing instruments. “By mirroring some of its distinguishing features, such as the nib itself, as well as the colour and the shine of the pen, we have created pieces that truly stand out.”
If anyone is capable of bringing this vision to fruition it is Tomasetta, who insists that as a designer, “writing and drawing are the starting points of any design process”. It’s one of the reasons why he was drawn (no pun intended) to Montblanc. It could also account for why the brand is so delighted to have him on board to reflect and carry forward its DNA in a new range of products that will feature briefcases, duffle bags, totes and document cases. Small leather goods, such as wallets and card holders, will be available in the sumptuous reds and blues inspired by Montblanc’s advertising artwork from 1920.
With an enhanced and enlarged emblem that has made the brand so instantly identifiable, the new Meisterstück Collection will be turning heads for years to come. Good things come to those who wait, and the good news is that we won’t have to wait much longer. The luxury goods world expects and Montblanc never fails to deliver.
