A Lange & Söhne Grand Lange 1
A Lange & Söhne’s more impactful releases this year are, arguably, either the visually arresting titanium Odyssey or the Richard Lange Minute Repeater, a traditional take on the complication that fans have been waiting on for years. But the new Grand Lange 1 (€49,500) communicates the manufacture’s particular appeal the best: the only difference between this and previous models is that its case, 41mm in diameter, is now 0.6mm slimmer for a height of just 8.2mm. This is accomplished by widening the dial slightly, which means the bezel can be made less protuberant; the applique numerals are slimmer as well. The movement is the same, except that the hands are now mounted slightly lower – but nothing the watchmakers of A Lange & Söhne would tout as a new calibre. It is available in white or pink gold, both with a grey dial, and is set to replace the existing models.
