Zenith Chronomaster Open
Last year saw Zenith’s Chronomaster burst back into the spotlight with two releases: the contemporary-styled Chronomaster Sport and the vintage revival Chronomaster Original. This year, the manufacture updates a modern classic in the Chronomaster Open. A cut-out on the dial selectively reveals the rapid-beating balance wheel of the current-generation El Primero automatic movement, which vibrates at five Hertz and can keep track of 1/10th of a second while operating the chronograph. The classic tri-colour subdials are retained thanks to the use of a transparent crystal element for the nine o’clock running seconds.
Perhaps following the ongoing renewed interest in vintage styling, the Chronomaster Open is sized at 39.5mm in diameter, falling between the modern
41mm styling of the Chronomaster Sport and the more classical 38mm of the Chronomaster Original. The new Chronomaster Open is launched as three references, including one in rose gold with matte silver dial (CHF19,900).
