Chanel J12 Diamond Tourbillon
Chanel’s new J12 Diamond Tourbillon is the brand at its best watchmaking, combining the distinctive, rather unisex black ceramic case and bracelet (the former is 38mm in diameter) with a touch of high horology and precious stones. It holds Caliber 5, Chanel’s first in-house flying tourbillon movement, tantalisingly visible thanks to a partial skeletonisation of the dial. The view through the display caseback is surprisingly simple, with an emphasis on the gear train and circular bridge, all in a black finish to match the rest of the watch. An impressively large solitaire diamond adorns the centre of the tourbillon, making for a fascinating light show as it turns, while more diamonds adorn the hands, crown and tourbillon carriage. It is available in two versions: glossy ceramic with diamond-set bezel (€180,000) and matte black with baguette-cut ceramic bezel (€100,000).
