Unheated Kashmir sapphire and diamond ring

Auctioned by Bonhams in Hong Kong for HK$3.3 million

The highest-selling lot at Bonhams’ Hong Kong Jewels and Jadeite sale in June, this important sapphire and diamond ring attracted a great deal of attention for its 6.99-carat, unheated cushion-shaped sapphire, which originated from Kashmir. Mounted in platinum and surrounded by paveset diamonds with a total weight of three carats, its final auction price reflects the scarcity of unheated sapphires and their ability to continue commanding strong prices for their superb quality.
