Cartier Beautés du Monde
After several seasons of playing with various realities – [Sur]Naturel and Sixième Sens from 2020 and 2021 really stretched the creative boundaries – Cartier returns to familiar ground this year. Beautés du Monde is the maison’s take on the beauty of our world. It is a subtle nod to the Cartier brothers, Louis, Pierre and Jacques, who not only travelled voraciously, but also observed and drew inspiration from everything large and small, East to West, while adding their own touch of art and savoir faire.
Key pieces include the Recif necklace featuring a curious interplay of meloncut red coral and emeralds highlighted by bezel-set round diamonds, and the stunning Apatura necklace that combines 22.08 carats of fine Australian opals with an eclectic palette of diamond bars and blue sapphire beads. With its irregularly set stones, the Recif recalls natural structures of an underwater coral reef, while the Apatura draws inspiration from butterfly wings, but Cartier has decided to present them through an abstract eye rather than take the figurative route.
Beautés du Monde also debuted a capsule collection of seven cocktail rings that touch upon all the maison’s major areas of creative expression: geometry, movement, colour contrasts, and flora and fauna.
