Shen the T.rex
Bidding commences on 30 November through Christie’s in Hong Kong
Made up of approximately 79 bones mounted on a frame into an anatomically accurate hunting pose, Shen the T.rex is the first Tyrannosaurus rex skeleton to be offered at auction in Asia. Standing 4.6m high and weighing 1,400kg,
Shen – which would have lived around 68 million to 66 million years ago during the Cretaceous period – was unearthed in Montana’s Hell Creek Formation two years ago. Only one in 80 million T.rex dinosaurs have been preserved as fossils, with just two making their way to the auction block, which explains why Shen carries a top estimate of HK$200 million.
