BEST MODERN MINIMALIST CONCEPT
Edmund Ng Architects
This spacious, light-filled minimalist home was an ailing homeowner’s legacy for his wife and children. Designed by Edmund Ng, this modern abode is a study in clean lines, restrained colour palettes and raw materials such as cement, marble, wood, glass, and steel. Drawing inspiration from luminaries such as Ludwig Mies van der Rohe and Le Corbusier, Ng built a modern, sleek space that remains liveable and meets the family’s needs—for instance, clutter is hidden from view through the clever use of storage space concealed behind timber panels. Besides a custom-made industrial light fixture above the dining table, there is no superfluous decor in this residence to maintain the minimalist look. The children’s and open- concept master bedrooms, on the second and top floor respectively, feature a cohesive material palette of blonde wood flooring, cement walls, and powder- coated steel bannisters to maintain a sense of flow.
