BEST LANDED PROJECT
Lab Architects
Lush nature and Japanese design come together harmoniously in this three-storey resort-themed residence. Designed by Brenda Ang of Lab Architects, this tropical abode was designed with a C-shaped configuration so that social spaces like the pool and patio would be in its centre. The layout also allows for good cross-ventilation, minimising the accumulation of stale air in large rooms. Built to support as much greenery as possible, the home has its exterior partially clad in a framework of wood panels that supports trellises and planters, and even boasts a sprawling rooftop garden. There are plenty of Japanese references, from sliding doors to wood-screen panels, as the owner wanted his home to reflect the joyful memories he’d made during vacations there with his family. Unsurprisingly, the home’s pièce de résistance is a pair of hinoki bathtubs, made from 300-year- old Japanese cypress wood (said to encourage better circulation during long baths).
