A home is a private sanctuary, which is why the owners of this apartment sought out architect Luther Seet of al+ to reinvent their living space. The unit was the husband’s family home that the couple wanted to replace with a purpose-built house that could cater to the couple, their young children and the grandparents. The owners wanted a tropical vibe, which was achieved with textured materials like teak, rough cement finishes and coarse-veined stone. The couple also commissioned furniture and decorative pieces from Balinese craft shops. Screens on each of its three floors block out the sun, while the open inner courtyard brings light into the house. Colourful accent pieces as well as paintings of flora and fauna add to its relaxed, resort-inspired look.
