I’ve stopped dressing for everybody else,” declares Sarissa Schwartz, one half of the husband and wife duo behind hotspots such as Bang Bang, Employees Only and Lulu’s Lounge. “I wear outfits that are comfortable and will last me from dinner at 8pm to dancing till 4am.” The 31-year-old’s uniform consists of a blazer, silk blouse, leather pants and pumps. Practical, but jazzed up with dramatic accessories such as her current favourites: a Duposh bejewelled alligator skin clutch and Kabochon pave diamond rings. Identifying her style as sophisticated, glamorous and fun, it comes as little surprise that her dream wardrobe swap would be with Beyoncé. “I’m drawn to how she wears comfortable flowy dresses that are still sexy. Also, who can resist a sequinned jumpsuit?” Given her busy schedule managing a portfolio of establishments in Singapore, and the recently opened Employees Only in Hong Kong, Sarissa prefers to turn to e-commerce for retail therapy, and counts Shopbop and Intermix as her go-to sites. The native New Yorker admits she has a weakness for shiny objects, something her husband and business partner, Joshua, has picked up on. “Once when he was on a business trip to Hong Kong, he bought me a pair of sparkly Christian Louboutin pumps as a surprise birthday gift,” she recalls. “He has great taste, so I take him with me whenever I go shopping because he’s my personal stylist.” Sounds like the perfect power couple.
