Load up on all the durian treats you can handle at Parkroyal on Pickering’s Lime restaurant
Durian season is upon us once again. Those who can’t get enough of the iconic fruit’s golden flesh will be thrilled to know that Parkroyal on Pickering is pulling out all the stops at its signature Lime restaurant with Thorny Temptations, an all-youcan-eat extravaganza featuring the king of fruits. From now till September 2 (except Mondays), adventurous gourmands can book a spot for dinner at Lime for a unique buffet experience featuring a myriad of savoury and sweet durian dishes. Created by the restaurant’s talented new executive chef, Eric Ong, these dishes go above and beyond your imagination, with intriguing highlights such as durian ravioli with sage and garlic butter as well as foie gras torchon with torched meringue and durian powder. There are even locally- inspired options, including prata with durian and gula melaka, and the fiery butter durian prawn with curry leaves and chilli padi. Remember to save room for desserts. Delights such as the mini durian crumble, pandan crepe with durian mousse, and even the highly irresistible deep-fried durian ice cream showcase chef Ong’s creative spinspin on the mightym durian. Those whow prefer the classicscla can indulge in suchsu items as chendol duriand and someso good ol’ duriandu pengat. Speaking of keepingke it old school,sch who can resist durian in its purest and rawestrawe form? A special area in the restaurant has been set up to look just like a traditional durian stall. Here, you can watch chefs pop open your favourite fruit one at a time. Go ahead and do three, four, five rounds for top-notch D24 and Mao Shan Wang durian. Another piece of exciting news Lime restaurant has to share is that it has recently refreshed its Afternoon Tea experience. Available from 3pm to 6pm daily, diners can look forward to pairing TWG Tea with exquisite dishes such as Peking duck duxelles encased in profiterole, and peanut butter chocolate cup with gianduja chantilly.
