BLANCPAIN
Blancpain demonstrates its creativity in decorative crafts with the new Villeret Métiers d’art Binchōtan, which has a dial made from special Japanese binchōtan charcoal. Ubamegashi oak is slowly fired at temperatures between 1,000 and 1,300°C, before being rapidly cooled down. The result is an incredibly dense material with a hardness comparable to steel. The binchōtan is then sliced, polished, lacquered with urushi, and applied with a gold engraving of Japan’s famous Itsukushima shrine.
