Beneath Ecuador’s Cotopaxi volcano, the indigenous textile artisans of Salasaca, known affectionately as El Pulga, preserve the region’s patrimony by hand-weaving traditional designs on their tapestries. They do this using wooden looms, without the help of any electrical machinery.
