Crystal Jade Kitchen

-

Crystal Jade Kitchen turns out simple and hearty Cantonese dishes. Service is prompt and efficient, even if the restaurant is full. The captains are generally cheery and take initiative in checking in to see if all the dishes have been served, as well as in offering a change of plates. From the dim sum menu, the deep-fried salted egg shrimp with cheong fun wins points for creativity—juicy shrimp, deep-fried and slicked in umami-rich salted egg sauce, are wrapped in silky cheong fun for a lovely contrast of flavours and textures. The bitesized egg tarts also impress with light layers of delicate pastry. For bigger plates, the kung po chicken and the braised tofu with minced pork and shrimp are enjoyable; the latter sees soft tofu topped with a springy prawn and pork mixture, bathed in a flavourful black bean sauce. The restaurant doesn’t stock wine, so your only pairing option is Tiger Beer—or opt for its selection of teas instead.
