The Din­ing Room is a cosy space with high ceil­ings and a large glass wall that frames the well-tended gar­den, rock pools and wa­ter­fall. It’s the per­fect back­drop for a lav­ish meal of Asian and in­ter­na­tional fare. Served with sam­bal prawn, chicken and pick­led veg­eta­bles, the nasi goreng is the high­light of the meal for its well-bal­anced spici­ness and bold flavours. The sig­na­ture dish of thick rice ver­mi­celli with prawn, quail egg and cock­les in a rich spicy co­conut gravy is chock-ablock with in­gre­di­ents, but would be bet­ter with less salt. Black pep­per lob­ster bee hoon in a clay pot proves a good choice; the fine ver­mi­celli with Bos­ton lob­ster, shi­itake mush­rooms, choy sum and spring onions braised in the pot is full of rich, juicy morsels. Dessert can be a richly deca­dent mud pie of lay­ered choco­late ice cream cake ooz­ing with hot choco­late fudge, while the run­ner-up in the sweets stake is the ice burger—an en­tic­ing choco­late and vanilla ice cream sand­wich in a sponge cake.
