Forest offers contemporary Chinese, and it’s obvious that a lot of time and thought has been put into the dishes. The seasoning for the Australian beef tenderloin cube is spot on; wokfried in black pepper sauce, the beef is deliciously slicked in the umami-rich sauce. Another star is the ah sam abalone mee sua, served with Sri Lankan crabmeat. The noodles are slippery-soft and are served in a flavour-packed starchy broth. While there is no dedicated sommelier, the staff are efficient and knowledgeable about the wines, and the selection is relatively extensive for a Chinese restaurant.
