For­est of­fers con­tem­po­rary Chi­nese, and it’s ob­vi­ous that a lot of time and thought has been put into the dishes. The sea­son­ing for the Aus­tralian beef ten­der­loin cube is spot on; wok­fried in black pep­per sauce, the beef is de­li­ciously slicked in the umami-rich sauce. An­other star is the ah sam abalone mee sua, served with Sri Lankan crab­meat. The noo­dles are slip­pery-soft and are served in a flavour-packed starchy broth. While there is no ded­i­cated som­me­lier, the staff are ef­fi­cient and knowl­edge­able about the wines, and the se­lec­tion is rel­a­tively ex­ten­sive for a Chi­nese restau­rant.
