Oc­cu­py­ing the lobby space of The Fuller­ton Bay Ho­tel and the lo­ca­tion of the orig­i­nal Clifford Pier, this restau­rant boasts a clas­sic and ro­man­tic am­bi­ence, which is why it’s so pop­u­lar with cou­ples look­ing to hold their wed­ding re­cep­tions. Plush arm­chairs and couches are spa­ciously ar­ranged in the open hall, af­ford­ing pri­vacy for din­ers. The menu presents a wide va­ri­ety of cui­sine, with the sig­na­ture dishes be­ing Sin­ga­pore’s her­itage hawker fare—from soup kamb­ing to Hainanese chicken rice. The Pier’s lob­ster roll makes for an ap­petis­ing starter, with suc­cu­lent but­ter-poached lob­ster lightly sea­soned with may­on­naise and chives, and served in a brioche bun. The wagyu beef ren­dang is a sump­tu­ous ren­di­tion of a com­mon Malay dish, fea­tur­ing ten­der shred­ded beef braised in co­conut and lo­cal spices and served on a bed of fra­grant jas­mine rice. For dessert, The Pier’s lo­cal ice cream makes for a cre­atively plated sweet end­ing to your meal, with flavours rang­ing from pandan to teh tarik.
