At this Clark Quay out­let, the vibe is suit­ably ca­cophonous, and the ser­vice brisk and knowl­edge­able. Tourists and Sin­ga­pore­ans alike pack the restau­rant, which is spread over two floors and ap­pointed with sim­ple round ta­bles that make for good com­mu­nal din­ing. The menu is ex­ten­sive, of­fer­ing ev­ery­thing from chilli, pep­per and salted egg crab to grilled squid, Chi­nese rice dishes and sweet-and-sour pork. It’s un­doubt­edly a suit­able spot to take vis­i­tors from out of town to sam­ple a wide ar­ray of dis­tinctly Sin­ga­porean fare.
