This sleek, min­i­mal­ist restau­rant has ex­cel­lent ocean-fresh pro­duce from fish mar­kets and spe­cialised farms from around Ja­pan. With the qual­ity of seafood here, start­ing with sashimi is a must; the plat­ter is beau­ti­fully ar­ranged and the se­lec­tion is ut­terly di­vine. The un­agi and egg ura roll is also mem­o­rable, along­side lightly grilled sushi and a care­fully pre­pared omelette in a tea leaf-dusted sushi rice roll. For the main course, the pan-fried tuna head fea­tures a meaty cut that’s fried to juicy per­fec­tion. The por­tion isn’t large, but the flavours de­light even the most jaded of palates. The high­light, Saga wagyu beef sir­loin (A4) comes with sea urchin, poached egg and chef Ak­iba’s spe­cial sauce. It’s topped with shav­ings of fresh sea­sonal truf­fle and the dish shines with flavours that high­light the qual­ity of the cut of beef. Nat­u­rally, Nami car­ries pre­mium sake, which in­cludes daig­injo and jun­mai, as well as beer, shochu, whisky and wine.
