This sleek, minimalist restaurant has excellent ocean-fresh produce from fish markets and specialised farms from around Japan. With the quality of seafood here, starting with sashimi is a must; the platter is beautifully arranged and the selection is utterly divine. The unagi and egg ura roll is also memorable, alongside lightly grilled sushi and a carefully prepared omelette in a tea leaf-dusted sushi rice roll. For the main course, the pan-fried tuna head features a meaty cut that’s fried to juicy perfection. The portion isn’t large, but the flavours delight even the most jaded of palates. The highlight, Saga wagyu beef sirloin (A4) comes with sea urchin, poached egg and chef Akiba’s special sauce. It’s topped with shavings of fresh seasonal truffle and the dish shines with flavours that highlight the quality of the cut of beef. Naturally, Nami carries premium sake, which includes daiginjo and junmai, as well as beer, shochu, whisky and wine.
Dine before sunset to enjoy the stunning twilight view of the Orange Grove area. Remember to book early and indicate your preference for the window-side seats.
