The char kway teow is the classic wok-fried rice noodles with prawns, Chinese sausage, chives, egg, bean sprouts and soya sauce. Traditional desserts include nonya kueh, peanut-filled pancakes and delightfully rich chendol with tender green noodles and fragrant gula Melaka, drizzled with coconut milk. Teh tarik (frothy milk tea) is recommended for the fragrance and taste of pure unadulterated tea; beer and limited house wines are also available.
