Long Beach @ Dempsey Seafood Restaurant
It’s good to come to Long Beach knowing what you’re craving and what you’re willing to fork out for. For instance, the live Alaskan crab, prepared in its signature white pepper crab sauce, is a highly recommend speciality. The sweetness of the sauce is a nice complement to the delicate sweet flesh of the crab, and the stronger than expected kick of white pepper, the ideal foil. There is the option to have half a crab, which is already a splurge, but enough for a young family of four to share. This should leave room for a few more dishes. If you’re craving the fish of the day, we recommend sticking with the time-honoured recommendations, such as the marble goby in the classic Cantonese style, or in its signature claypot dish. And if you still have room, it might be best to skip dessert and have another side dish instead, perhaps the fried crispy kang kong with cuttlefish.
