Café Mosaic

Acasual place to dine with family or friends, Café Mosaic is located in the lobby of the Carlton Hotel. The highlight—and what we observe other diners coming here for—is the buffet spread, which includes a generous spread of fresh seafood, including baby lobsters, crayfish, prawns and snow crab legs. Oysters are also freshly shucked in front of you after you select them. We saw numerous mounds of shells as other diners tucked into the spread. Should the cold seafood buffet not be to your liking, however, Café Mosaic also offers an à la carte menu. Standouts include the Singapore nonya laksa, generously topped with seafood, meat and eggs, is fiery and delicious when dosed with a dollop of the restaurant’s signature sambal chilli. The nasi goreng istimewa is the house’s spin on kampong fried rice. Like the laksa, it’s a generous portion, with large sticks of satay, crispy fried chicken, nonya achar and a sunny-side-up egg.

Don’t forget to ask for the sambal chilli—it has a kick that will elevate each dish’s deliciousness.
