Tucked in a shaded corner of Fort Canning Park, this charming French-japanese hideaway is a study of contrasts. The rustic, terraced black-and-white house that sits at the top of a steep staircase may feel like something from our colonial past, but chef Hiroyuki Shinkai’s food is distinctly modern. Fusing French and Japanese flavours, ingredients and techniques, the chef serves up smart, light and delicious dishes at menu prices that, given the quality, are sure to please diners. Especially recommended is the Hokkaido wagyu (A4), cooked simply but perfectly, and served with an umami Madeira sauce.
