It certainly has stood the test of time and there are many good reasons for it. The menu is extensive yet curated. Even at its most inventive moments, as with its monthly specials, it never strays away from its stolid Cantonese heritage. Dim sum is a trusty way to go if you’re lunching; the freshness of ingredients can be enjoyed right away. The rudimentary items are finely served, and the more “modern” dishes strike the right balance of texture and savouriness. The Peking duck is succulent and wonderfully seasoned right to the bone, while the skin remains dutifully crisp. Soups, faithful to Cantonese priority, are elaborate and nourishing, consisting of numerous premium ingredients that are packed with flavour—nary a seasoning need apply. Try the savoury bird’s nest with fresh crab roe and the double-boiled soup in mini pumpkin as a case in point. The fish noodles in superior stock is well worth the calories—expertly stir-fried to perfection.
