Peach Garden @ Hotel Miramar
This Hotel Miramar stalwart is a favourite of families, evident by the large tables of multigenerational gatherings on a Sunday afternoon. The food standards have been kept consistent over the years, with Cantonese favourites taking centre stage on the menu. The roasted crispy duck comes highly recommended, but it may be wise to order the barbecue combination platter for variety; it includes barbecued pork (char siew) and a stellar roast pork. The meats go well with the stewed fish-paste noodles, redolent with wok hei and slicked in a sweet black sauce, as well as the dish of stir-fried kailan, topped with crispy deepfried shredded ginger for crunch and warmth. The selection of wine is extensive by Chinese restaurant standards; for alternative beverages, the homemade soybean milk is wonderfully creamy and delicious.
