Jim Thompson bills itself as an authentic Thai restaurant, but the flavours here tend to be a little muted, aimed perhaps at diners with more timid taste buds. The green curry with chicken is filled with chunks of meat but its rich coconut curry sauce is lacking the tongue-numbing fieriness. Similarly, the tom yum soup is brimming with prawns and mushroom but doesn’t have the spicy kick it’s known for. Desserts are better— the quintessential dish of sliced mangoes and sweet sticky rice is topped with coconut milk and dried mung beans, ending the meal on a delicious note. Staff are gracious and extremely pleasant, while the pacing of courses is exemplary. The wine list, with choices from around the globe, is decent.
