Established by chef Stephane Istel, this restaurant has drawn many regulars with its hearty fare that’s reminiscent of dishes from his hometown in Alsace and its affordable fine French wines. Some of the highlights include charcuterie, rillettes and terrines as well as dry-aged organic beef all prepared in-house. Most dishes are great for sharing, including the speciality Alsatian tarte flambée with toppings like cheese or mushroom. The superbly tender roasted spring chicken is presented in four manageable portions, and served with späetzle pasta, bacon and a richly flavoured wine sauce. The beef Wellington is perfectly executed—juicy beef wrapped in a golden, crisp pastry complemented by rich foie gras, spinach and mushroom. For something more classic, go for the Alsatian Choucroute of sausages, smoked pork and house sauerkraut. Service is friendly, efficient and helpful.
