Blue Lotus is most famous for its punchy Sri Lankan chilli crab with a burst of freshness from the pomelo pulp. The thick, spicy sauce is redolent of herbs and spices like lemongrass and curry leaves. Another speciality is the hickory-smoked, honey-glazed kurobuta pork ribs. The generously portioned meat glistening with a caramelised glaze is ultra-tender and worth ordering. The speciality rice, served in a hot-stone bowl, is tossed with shiitake mushrooms, lard and Chinese sausages. A request for a side order of plain egg fried rice is flavourful and just as enjoyable. Wok-fried French beans with minced pork in XO sauce, although simple, is well-prepared. For a classic Chinese treat to round off the meal, order the crispy Chinese-style pancake filled with lightly sweet red bean and lotus paste. The staff are warm and friendly, and are able to assist diners with all dietary restrictions as well as recommend dishes for everyone.
