Blue Lotus is most famous for its punchy Sri Lankan chilli crab with a burst of freshness from the pomelo pulp. The thick, spicy sauce is redolent of herbs and spices like lemongrass and curry leaves. Another speciality is the hickory-smoked, honey-glazed kurobuta pork ribs. The generously portioned meat glistening with a caramelise­d glaze is ultra-tender and worth ordering. The speciality rice, served in a hot-stone bowl, is tossed with shiitake mushrooms, lard and Chinese sausages. A request for a side order of plain egg fried rice is flavourful and just as enjoyable. Wok-fried French beans with minced pork in XO sauce, although simple, is well-prepared. For a classic Chinese treat to round off the meal, order the crispy Chinese-style pancake filled with lightly sweet red bean and lotus paste. The staff are warm and friendly, and are able to assist diners with all dietary restrictio­ns as well as recommend dishes for everyone.
