Ippoh Tempura Bar by Ginza Ippoh

-

As the first Southeast Asian outpost of the more than 150-year-old Osakan tempura restaurant Ginza Ippoh, you can expect Ippoh Tempura to get things right. Order the Yuki set menu, which comes with 12 pieces of tempura and a delish tenbara rice. The tempura pieces are light and crispy, having been fried in high quality safflower oil and cooked upon order to ensure their freshness and flavour. The osuimono (seafood broth) that comes as one of the courses is delightfully rich and light—definitely a highlight. Another thing that diners can look forward to is the restaurant’s range of sakes, which the servers will be more than happy to explain and recommend. It’s worth trying the Hourai Junmai Daiginjo Irootoko Gifu, which comes with notes of melon and cream.
