Neon Pigeon
The work of EDG Design, the restaurant boasts steel, wood and glass accents, and concrete walls with larger-than-life murals painted by local graffiti artist Zero. The food is excellent, too—a cross between tapas-style bites and Japanese fusion. A superb starter is the signature Tokyo Hummus, a creamy, umami bomb with edamame added to it, and the accompanying curry chips—sourdough slices toasted to crispy perfection and dusted with curry powder. The charcoal fired Wagyu is another standout, with its perfectly grilled finish that gives a hint of smokiness, and its pairing with the grilled shishito gives it another depth of flavour. Special mention to the truffle mushroom rice and its creamy, risotto-like consistency and bites of moreish mushrooms like king oyster, shimeji and maitake.
