This glass-walled restaurant is as feted for its exquisite Cantonese cuisine as for its stunning setting. Hand-painted crockery in pretty shades and plenty of natural light streaming in through its windows make for excellent photos, but what sets Summer Pavilion apart is its impeccable service and the fact that its food more than matches up to its ambience. Cantonese classics are refined and redefined, whether in the list of dim sum that includes baked abalone puffs with assorted mushrooms, or in its à la carte menu where the likes of sweet and sour pork are deliciously flawless. Even the simplest dish of braised beancurd with bamboo pith, mushrooms and seasonable vegetables could easily serve as a star. The service staff are attentive, warm and unobtrusive in equal measure, striking that tricky balance that often eludes restaurants of its kind.
