EDITOR’S NOTE
What makes a house a home? To many, “home is where the heart is”. And that, in essence, is truly what makes a living space uniquely yours. For me, my home is my sanctuary, surrounded by the books I love, the mementos I’ve collected on my travels and the company of my two fat cats. In this issue of Singapore Tatler Homes, we’ve put together a collection of beautiful homes from all over the world that exudes warmth, style and personality—these include a unique house in Antibes that looks like a superyacht (page 142) and a gorgeous apartment in Barcelona (page 94) that’s inspired by its Mediterranean climate. And what do these homes have in common? They are all built and decorated to the homeowners’ unique requirements. Like a love affair, their relationship with their abode is intimate, personal and stunningly beautiful. My favourite? South African chef Paula Nel’s home in Cape Town (page 132), which showcases a mix of industrial elements with precious finds from her travels mixed with practical essentials. In this issue, we also share an exclusive first look at 8 St Thomas, a new property by Bukit Sembawang Estates. Three local design firms have been tasked to design dream concepts for a selection of apartments within the property; take a closer look from page 66. Elsewhere in the magazine, we have compiled a list of top interior design firms you should know, inspiring ways you can bring the tropical resort vibe home, as well as an exclusive interview with Italian industrial designer Francesco Meda on his first collaboration with Molteni&c (page 54). Enjoy the issue.
