THE MOLTENI&C | DADA SHOWCASE AT SALONE DEL MOBILE DREW INSPIRATION FROM THE HOMES OF RENOWNED ARCHITECTS

-

Founded in 1934, Molteni&c | Dada has grown from a humble artisan workshop to a leading Italian furniture firm. Today, the brand has over 600 stores worldwide in cities including London, New York and Singapore; it’s also part of the Molteni Group, which encompasses the namesake brand, Dada kitchen systems and Unifor office furnishings.

Since 1961, Molteni&c | Dada has been showcasing its newest collections annually at the Salone del Mobile furniture fair in Milan. This year, the firm paid tribute to Mid-century Modern architects by creating an exhibition stand inspired by their homes, set against a variety of plant life from Californian deserts. Here, we take you through the key collections featured at the furniture fair:

SMARTER STORAGE

Keep your living space neat and well-organised with Dante Bonuccelli’s Pass-words. The work of the Buenos Aires-based designer, the sleek shelving system is available as a wallmounted or as a freestanding unit. For more storage options, pick the Irving sideboard designed by Molteni&c | Dada creative director Vincent Van Duysen. Crafted in either eucalyptus or Canaletto walnut, this sideboard by the Belgian architect offers generous storage options within its handsome cabinetry. To complete the cosy tableau in your living room, Canadian design duo George Yabu and Glenn Pushelberg of Yabu Pushelberg have created Surf, a sofa inspired by organic forms. Available in a wide array of fabric and leather upholstery options, Surf’s rounded proportions add a soft touch to a minimalist interior.

INSPIRED LIVING

Another highlight of the 2019 presentation is the Gatwick collection, created by Milanese architect Rodolfo Dordoni. Dordoni drew parallels between the aerospace influence of London’s Gatwick Airport and his dining table— the table has criss-cross steel legs reminiscent of the shape of an aeroplane propeller. Moving onto the bedroom, Vincent Van Duysen’s Gliss Master Sistema 7 is a musthave for the fashionista. It features an innovative horizontal folding mechanism; a space-saving function that allows its doors to move from their initial housing into the adjacent compartment. Highly customisable, the Sistema 7 can be used as a corner unit or a self-enclosed walkin wardrobe; the doors are available in either a glass or wood finish.
