Lofty Ambitions
BEING ON CLOUD NINE TAKES ON NEW MEANING AT WALLICH RESIDENCE
Perched atop Guoco Tower, Singapore’s tallest building, Wallich Residence literally stands head and shoulders above its peers when it comes to luxurious living. The residential development, which occupies a commanding position at 290m above sea level, is setting new standards for urbanites seeking their dream home. It’s part of a development by Guocoland, an award-winning, Singapore-based property developer known for its luxury projects.
BOTANICAL ORIGINS
Wallich Residence occupies the 39th to 64th floors of Guoco Tower, a unique integrated development that sits above Tanjong Pagar MRT station.
Besides the property’s 181 apartments, Guoco Tower also incorporates 31 storeys of premium office space, dedicated shopping and dining spaces, the five-star Sofitel Singapore City Centre hotel, and a 150,000sqft double-storey urban park.
The luxury property bears the name of Danish surgeon and botanist Nathaniel Wallich, who contributed significantly to Singapore’s present-day reputation as a Garden City. His passion for Southeast Asia’s flora and fauna gave rise to the Botanic and Experimental Garden in 1822, the precursor to the modernday Singapore Botanic Gardens. “Intertwined with this historical legacy, Wallich Residence epitomises the importance of nature in creating one of the world’s most recognised green developments today,” says Dora Chng, general manager of the residential division at Guocoland.
ABOVE IT ALL
And what would Singapore’s loftiest address be without all the necessary accoutrements? Panoramic views of the Singapore skyline are a given, as are beautifully appointed apartments finished with top-of-the-line materials and fittings, and impeccable detailing. The living spaces
are configured as one- to fourbedroom units, in addition to four penthouses and one exclusive super penthouse which is the largest and tallest of its kind in Singapore.
The 21,100sqft super penthouse features five bedrooms, a family room, private garden and viewing deck on its first floor, which is on the 62nd storey. The second level houses the living room, study, dining area, dry and wet kitchens and a utility room, while the top floor incorporates a 12m-long pool with a Jacuzzi room, as well as other entertainment facilities. This three-storey unit made the headlines when it was sold to British billionaire James Dyson for $73.8 million. “A super penthouse remains the epitome of luxury homes, reserved for and attainable only by a select few,” says Chng. “Guocoland will continue to build on our reputation as a leader in urban rejuvenation.”
URBAN REVIVAL
Wallich Residence also features four levels of amenities and recreational facilities, from the hotel-inspired concierge service and the infinity pool on level 39 to the private dining room on level 52 and glass observation decks on level 62.
Given the property’s central location in Tanjong Pagar, residents can reach anywhere in Singapore quickly and easily. Wallich Residence is also poised to ride on the rejuvenation of the Greater Southern Waterfront area, which extends from Gardens by the Bay East to Pasir Panjang and will be transformed into a new major gateway and location for urban living along Singapore’s southern coast. About 2,000ha of land will be freed up for development, signalling exciting times for the district.
